Hot Hotel: Venice's Hotel Danieli Is Back—and More Glamorous Than Ever

Venice’s legendary Hotel Danieli has reopened as Danieli, Venezia, A Four Seasons Hotel, bringing one of Italy’s most famous luxury hotels into a new era. Set on the Riva degli Schiavoni, moments from St. Mark’s Square, the property occupies three historic buildings led by 15th-century Palazzo Dandolo, a landmark of Venetian Gothic architecture. Its lagoon-facing location delivers panoramic views of St. Mark’s Basin and San Giorgio Maggiore, especially from the celebrated rooftop Terrazza Danieli.

French designer Pierre-Yves Rochon has refreshed Palazzo Dandolo and Palazzo Casa Nuova while preserving the hotel’s unmistakable grandeur. The restored lobby retains its gilded ceiling, monumental staircase, stone columns and Moorish-influenced arches, but lighter interiors now draw on the colors of the Venetian Lagoon: celadon green, powder blue, terracotta, ochre and soft pink. Murano glass, terrazzo floors, Venetian mirrors, local marble and custom Rubelli textiles reinforce the connection to Venice’s centuries-old craft traditions.

The reopened Hotel Danieli offers 120 rooms and suites, including more spacious junior suites and one-bedroom suites. Modern additions are discreetly integrated through concealed media walls, automated curtains, customizable lighting and updated climate controls. The remaining Palazzo Danieli Excelsior restoration is expected to be completed in 2027.

Terrazza Danieli has also been redesigned to emphasize natural light and its sweeping lagoon views. Executive Chef Adriano Rausa serves contemporary Italian cuisine with Venetian influences, while the historic Bar Dandolo remains a focal point of the palace experience. A new Danieli Spa, with three treatment rooms, a couples’ suite, sauna and hammam, is scheduled to open later in 2026.

With its Four Seasons service, restored Venetian interiors, rooftop dining and unrivaled location near Piazza San Marco, the reopened Hotel Danieli is once again one of the most important luxury hotels in Venice—and one of Europe’s most anticipated hotel reopenings of 2026 for discerning international travelers.
